SARGODHA: A minor boy allegedly shot dead his paternal aunt for ‘honour’ on Tuesday at Chak 104-SB, some 30km from here.

Reports said Kunwal Parveen had married a man of her choice some 10 years ago without consent of her family. Later, the family had reconciled with the woman.

On Tuesday, the woman, a mother of three, was called to attend the ceremony of birth of son of her maternal uncle. When she visited the house, her nine-year-old nephew Najamul Hassan alias Waqas fired on her with a pistol, killing her on the spot.

Although Saddar police registered a case against the minor boy, they believed that the woman was killed for honour and the suspect was trained for it by the family.

Police have arrested the minor and gave him in the custody of his father. Further investigation is under way.
