DACCA: More than 100 Indian Muslims from Assam have been pushed into Pakistan by the Indian authorities according to reports reaching here. These Muslims were Indian nationals for generations. They were inhumanly driven away from their home and hearth. ...

The report added protection of minorities as pledged by India in the Liaquat-Nehru Pact is more honoured ... in breach than observance. The Indians are trying to make propaganda capital out of human misery. These helpless, poor Muslim evictees have been conveniently branded as Pakistani infiltrators and driven out to Pakistan against all canons of humanity and morality. — Agency

[Meanwhile, as reported by an agency in Bombay,] Eleven persons were killed and more than 70 injured in Hindu-Muslim rioting in South Bombay’s mixed Hindu-Muslim areas on Sunday night [Sept 20], a Police report said. The injured included many policemen. The rioting continued after midnight, despite repeated bursts of Police fire, at four main trouble spots.

Meanwhile, Central Bombay returned to normal today after violent clashes. All gatherings of five or more people have been banned for a week following the disturbances which broke out after a clash between bootleggers and stock exchange gamblers.
