LAHORE: Mian Mumtaz Mohammad Daultana emphatically declared yesterday [Sept 20] that he had resigned from the presidentship of the Pakistan Council Muslim League because of illness.
In an interview on his arrival from Lahore yesterday afternoon Mian Sahib said “he was one of the councillors of his Party, and would continue to work for it in this capacity”.
Asked whether he would go to London for medical check-up, he said he had no intention to go outside the country as his illness was not of such a nature. His visit to Karachi was a private one. “I have come here to see my son off, who is proceeding abroad,” he said.
Replying to a question Mian Sahib said he would be glad to meet political leaders during his stay in the City but would not address any political meeting or party workers’ meeting.
Mr Daultana further stated that he would be attending the meeting of the Working Committee of his party. He said the Working Committee of his party was scheduled to be held at Lahore on Sept 27. The meeting, he said, among other matters, would also nominate his successor as reported earlier.
