ISLAMABAD: A student has tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday, three days after educational institutions reopened in the capital.

Sources said a student at a Federal Directorate of Education (FDE)-run college was diagnosed with Covid-19. An FDE official said her test result was received Thursday evening, after which she was isolated in her home.

An FDE official said the college building has been disinfected and will not close today (Friday).

On Wednesday, two employees of a women’s college tested positive, and three teachers - two at government schools in G-6 and G-7 and one at a private school in H-8 - tested positive a few days before educational institutions formally reopened.

An FDE official confirmed that a college student has tested positive for Covid-19 and the college building has been disinfected. He said educational activities in schools and colleges would continue.

Students and teachers from public and private schools will be tested today (Friday), he said, adding that the FDE and Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority have been conducting visits at institutions and, so far, arrangements made by them to prevent the spread of Covid-19 have been deemed satisfactory.
