THIS is apropos the headline of the story ‘Military fully backs government policies, says Imran’ (Sept 4). Why on earth had the prime minister to say this?

Does he always need approvals for the implementation of policies from the establishment and tell it to the people? I say this because eastern and western borders are actively hot and our young officers and jawans are being martyred by terrorists from the other side of the border with Afghanistan.

On the other hand, the LoC also remains active round the year and the civilians are being martyred by indiscriminate fire by the Indian forces. Then we have new developments taking place in the wake of the Indo-China border conflict. India might give us a surprise like it gave in 1965 in order to divert world attention from conflict with China.

There is a big question for Imran Khan as, after taking over as prime minister, he had announced that no retired employee would be re-hired. If this is so, why are retired army offices being re-hired now?
