DERA GHAZI KHAN, Sept 22: The district police have failed to arrest the man, who had allegedly amputated the nose and lips of his brother’s pregnant wife. The victim’s family, on the other hand, is unable to meet the expenses of treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital.

According to reports, Amna Bibi married Abbas seven years ago and her brother Yaseen was tied in nuptial wedlock with the sister of Abbas. However, Yaseen divorced Abbas’ sister seven months ago and the issue infuriated the family.

Meanwhile, Amna Bibi sought divorce from Abbas. A couple of days ago, she was coming back to her village with her brother Ghulam Akbar after attending court proceedings regarding the divorce issue when her brother-in-law Hassan opened fire on them and then cut her nose and lips with a sharp-edged knife. He left the two injured.

The injured were taken to the DHQ hospital where they were not being treated properly.

The family has appealed to philanthropists and the government to lend a hand to the victim in the hour of trial and arrest the suspect. — Correspondent
