FAISALABAD: A cyclist was run over and killed allegedly by a vehicle of former PPP MNA Saeed Iqbal at midnight near Akbarabad Chowk, Jail Road,

The victim was identified as Ghulam Rasool, a hotel worker. Some eyewitnesses reportedly spotted Iqbal driving the vehicle, recorded his footage and informed the police.

However, the Civil Lines police registered a case under sections 322 and 427 of the PPC against Iqbal’s driver, identified as Ahsan of Chak 60-JB, Shehbazpur, on the complaint of Ghulam Rasool’s brother Muhammad Nasir of the Punjab Medical College Colony.

In his application, Nasir said the driver of the vehicle (VH-ISL 624) hit his brother who was on his way to home on a cycle. Ghulalm Rasool was run over by the vehicle and killed on the spot.

He said the rashly-driven vehicle also hit a rickshaw near the Allied Hospital from the rear side.

A police officer said Mr Iqbal was not driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.
