SUKKUR: The Defence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour on Sunday in parts of Sindh to pay homage and rich tribute to the martyrs of Pak Army, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air force, paramilitary forces, including Rangers, Mujahid Force and others, who sacrificed their lives in the war with India on Sept 6, 1965.
Different organisations organised programmes and took out rallies to commemorate the martyrdom of Pakistani heroes.
The Sukkur Small Traders/Grain Merchant Association took out a rally from Anaj Bazaar up to the clock tower roundabout. All the way to the roundabout, the participants were raising slogans “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Salam to Shuhuda-i-Pakistani Afwaj”.
Another rally was taken out by the Pak Army Lovers Sindh, Pakistan, from Madressah Jamia Faiz-ul-Uloom, Bunder road, to the Workshop Road in the lead of Jamiat Ulema Pakistan central vice president Sahibzada Syed Hamid Mehmood Faizi, and Milad-i-Mustafa Committee founder chairman and Pak Army Lovers Sindh organiser Ghayasuddin Qadri.
The Sukkur Chambers of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) also organised a programme.
The All Sukkur Small Traders & Cottage Industry organised a programme where tributes were paid to national heroes.
Similar programmes were held in other towns and cities of upper and interior Sindh.
In Mithi also, the day was observed in a befitting manner.
People belonging to various walks of life took out rallies in Mithi, Islamkot, Diplo, Chelhar, Chhachhro, Dahli, Kaloi Kantio Kasbo, Dano Dhandal and other towns and villages.
A special event Shuda Memorial was held at the village of Barach by known activist Mama Vishan Thari, Krishan Sharma and Dr Ashok Bakhtan.
