LAHORE: PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz said on Friday had Imran Khan accepted the resignation of his special assistant Asim Bajwa, he would have to resign too.

In a tweet, she said: “The narrative of accountability (of the PTI government) died today. Had he (Imran) accepted the resignation (of Asim Bajwa), he would have to resign too. Now the people have understood the meaning of NRO. Why NRO is given and whom it is given ... thank you for telling the people the meaning of NRO. But you will have to be accountable.”

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday refused to accept the resignation of Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa in the wake of allegations about his family’s assets.

Meanwhile, Punjab Assembly opposition leader Hamza Shahbaz crticised Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for his government’s failure to take measures to cope with heavy rains.

He told reporters outside the Punjab Assembly that “hanging out and talking to people about rain will not help mitigate the problems of those affected by rains and flood”. He said the CM made no preparation to address rain-related issues ahead of the monsoon.
