PESHAWAR, Jan 19: The Koki Khel Youth Organization and Zawan Pakhtoon have asked the NWFP governor to intervene and order the department concerned to release their leaders arrested by the political administration during last week.

KKYO president Zarmim Khan and ZP president Ikramullah Jan Afridid were arrested on Jan 8 for making a demand for holding of local bodies elections in Fata and repealing of the Frontier Crimes Regulation Act. Later, the political administration arrested some more persons for holding a demonstration for the release of the KKYO and ZP office-bearers.

In a statement, the KKYO general secretary said that the tribal elders had assured them that the detained youth would be released shortly, but they were still in lock-up. The organizations announced that they would hold a demonstration in Jamrud and stage a sit-in in front of Governor’s House on Tuesday.
