SIALKOT, Sept 19: The visiting Japanese experts have announced provision of technical assistance to the local manufacturers and exporters of leather products for flourishing the industry and purging it of environment pollution caused by the tanneries through the use of ultra-modern techniques under the world environment protection laws.

Talking to newsmen here on Monday, Japanese advanced leather techniques’ experts Dr Suporn Koottatep and Prof Tayjoohwa (from the Asian Productivity Organization, Japan) said there were bright chances of bringing betterment and advancement in the Sialkot’s leather industry.

They expressed their satisfaction over the preventive measures adopted by leather products’ manufacturers and exporters to purge the industry of environment pollution caused by the tanneries.

The Japanese experts visited the Cleaner Production Centre, the Leather Products Development Institute and various leading industrial units in Sambrial-Sahowala-Daska, Uggoki and Sialkot city.

During their five-day stay, the Japanese experts will also address a seminar on “Leather techniques development” to be held on Wednesday.

PATROL POSTS: Four newly-established patrol posts started functioning in Sialkot district on Monday. Punjab IGP (patrol posts) Saqlain Naqvi inspected the posts, and told newsmen that the patrol posts had helped in minimizing the highway crimes and road accidents.

In all 17 patrol posts are to be established in the district, out of which four have started functioning. The establishment of the remaining posts is under way.

The regional SP patrol posts, Gujranwala, Ali Ahmad Sabir, said 21 more posts were being established in Gujranwala region.
