KARACHI: A teenage girl fell victim to what police described as ‘honour killing’ in Clifton on Saturday afternoon.

They added that Hasnain Qamar shot his sister Noorul Huda, 19, at Marine Drive, Block-2.

She suffered critical injuries and was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival, said Dr Seemin Jamali.

She received a bullet in the head.

The police detained the suspect along with the weapon used in the crime.

The incident occurred at 3pm. A police officer said Hasnain ‘confessed’ to killing his sister over so-called ‘honour’.

During the initial probe, he stated that he was a sub-inspector in DMC South land department.

He had a weapon of his father (his late father was a retired director in the same department).

He got the job in the same department on ‘son quota’ and was allotted the same weapon in his name.

The suspect told the police that his sister used to talk to someone in their neighbourhood and that he had “warned” her from doing so time and again.

Today when his younger brother told the suspect about their “constant interactions”, he took out the pistol and shot her in the head. She died on the spot.
