TAXILA: Eight people were killed in separate incidents in Taxila and Attock during the Eid days.

Three friends, aged between 20 and 22 years, who came from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to River Indus on Monday drown while taking bath near a bridge in the limits of Attock Khurd police.

Police and rescue sources identified the deceased as Amir Khan, Zeeshan Khan from Nowshera and Mohammad Khan, a resident of Peshawar.

The body of one of the victims has been recovered.

A 16-year-old boy also drowned in the river near Attock Khurd in the limits of the same police. Abdul Rehman along with his brother and friends had gone to the river to beat the heat where he drowned. The body was recovered by local volunteers.

Separately, a man was shot dead near Wanni village in the limits of Taxila police. Haji Tanveer, 30, was going towards Hakla when unknown gunmen shot him dead. Mohammad Waqas, a resident of Ghazi Kohli, was also shot dead in New City Phase-II.

In another incident, a 23-year-old man committed suicide by shooting himself in Mohallah Khawaja Nagar in the limits of Hassanbadal police. Police said Mohammad Waqas was in distress due to unemployment. Meanwhile, a man lost his life in a traffic accident on Fatehjang-Kohat road in Fatehjang. Police said Abdul Malik,60, lost control of his car at College Mor due to speeding.
