LAKKI MARWAT: Two people were killed over an old enmity in Wanda Zalo of Tank district, located near Darra Pezu town of Lakki Marwat, on Friday.

Police said that Islamuddin, 34, a resident of Wanda Zalo, and his friend Younas Khan, 17, a resident of Langerkhel Pakka village of Lakki Marwat, were shot and killed when they were asleep in the guestroom. Complainant Hasan Jan, father of Islamuddin, told police he was in DI Khan at the time of occurrence.

He nominated Ghulam Qadir, Sainullah, Samiullah and Javed for the offence and told police that his family had strained relations with them. Police have registered the case.

BANNED: The administration here on Friday banned the two-stroke autorickshaws in the limits of Lakki Marwat district.

“The ban was imposed on the instructions of Bannu commissioner,” said an order issued under section 144 CrPC by deputy commissioner Abdul Haseeb.

PLANTATION DRIVE: The district administration has decided to engage volunteers of the Tiger Force in monsoon tree plantation campaign so as to make it a success and increase the forest cover in Bannu division, including Lakki Marwat district.

The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting on Friday with Bannu Commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai in the chair.Lakki Marwat deputy commissioner Abdul Haseeb and DFO Naqeebullah Khan, Bannu deputy commissioner Mohammad Zubair and DFO Wahdat Zeeshan Anwar and North Waziristan deputy commissioner Shahid Ali Khan and DFO Ajab Khan were in attendance.

The forest department officials briefed the meeting about plantation activities planned in their respective areas for monsoon season. They said that support by the administration would enable the forest department to achieve the set targets of planting saplings.

Mr Yousafzai said that besides playing a role in the socioeconomic development of the country, forests also reduced the hazards of climate changes and global warming. He said that enhancing forest cover was essential to economic prosperity and to overcome the harmful effects of climate change.

He said that with the help of the forest department they were all set to sow 200,000 seedlings in Bannu division and a plantation activity would be arranged in Lakki Marwat after Eid festival where around 10,000 saplings would be planted in a day.
