SUKKUR: A petition has been filed in the Sindh High Court, Sukkur bench, praying for withdrawal of hiring powers of Shah Abdul Latif University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Perveen Shah.

The petition has been filed by advocate Fayyaz Khamisani, who informed the court that the VC had been granted extension twice and her third term was expiring on Oct 2.

The petitioner has alleged that she had been appointed and granted extension on political grounds. She not only demonstrated nepotism but also had been obliging political elements by recruiting candidates recommended by them, he alleged. As a result, the university had reached the verge of destruction, he submitted in his petition.

The petitioner asked that her recruitment powers be withdrawn in order to stop her from hiring “ineligible” people.

Admitting the petition, the court issued notices to the respondents and fixed the hearing for August 11.
