SHEIKHUPURA: The price of sugar has reached Rs100 per kg from Rs85 in the market despite the presence of price control committees and magistrates.

Besides sugar, other edible commodities are also being sold at higher prices from the fixed ones.

Citizens showed concern at the situation and urged the deputy commissioner (DC) to check the performances of price control committees regularly.

A visit to local markets shows that shopkeepers selling grocery, meat, fruits and other items do not display price list.

Citizens demand the inflation wave be controlled by making price control committees functional.

“It seems that these committees are only on paper, and not in field,” said a citizen. People said the DC should now check the performances of price control committees regularly to provide relief to citizens.
