HYDERABAD: Leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) district chapter said on Monday said that Hyderabad was faced with serious civic issues for the past several years as the ruling party had been neglecting the city.

Addressing a press conference at the local press club, PTI district president Ali Hingoro, general secretary Javed Iqbal and information secretary Musarrat Iqbal said that heaps of garbage could be seen everywhere polluting the environment, but civic bodies like the Hyderabad Development Authority and Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) were not doing anything in this regard.

They said the city did not have sports grounds anywhere. People did not have access to safe drinking water in Hyderabad, they added.

The PTI local leaders said the city was also faced with unannounced loadshedding. Situation might improve as a recently burnt transformer in 220kV grid station was being replaced with a new one, they observed.

They said that when the HDA management was approached for redressing people’s grievances, it never gave a satisfactory reply.

They said there were issues relating to police as well which needed government attention, but the ruling party was not paying any heed to them.
