QUETTA: Three brothers and a policeman have lost their lives in a clash between two groups in Chaman.

Chaman Assistant Commissioner Zakaullah Durrani said the clash took place over installation of an electricity pole in the old Chaman area the other day. Both groups used sticks, knives and other weapons against each other and eight others suffered serious injuries in the clash, he added.

Mr Durrani said soon after receiving information about the clash the town administration along with Levies Force and rescuer workers rushed to the site of the incident and brought the situation under control.

He said the dead and the injured were taken to a hospital, where the deceased were identified as Mohammad Ismail, Zainuddin and policeman Rozi Khan. Four of the injured were referred to Quetta because of their critical condition.

According to sources, the people belonging to both groups were said to be close relatives. Police have registered a case and started investigation.

In another incident, two men were killed and another suffered injuries when armed motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire on a vehicle in the Badi area of Wadh tehsil in Khuzdar district.

Wadh Assistant Commissioner Iqbal Khosa said the victims were on their way home when they were attacked.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Manan Mengal and Ali Ahmed Mengal and the injured as Ghulam Sarwar Mengal.

Mr Khosa said as per the preliminary investigation the incident was the result of an old dispute. A case has been lodged and investigation was underway, he added.

Later, the bodies were handed over to their heirs after completing medico-legal formalities. The injured man was referred to Karachi for further treatment.
