KARACHI: A bakery owner was killed in a suspected terror attack in the Sachal area on Wednesday evening, police and rescue officials said.

East-SSP Sajid Amir Sadozai said unknown suspects threw a hand grenade at the bakery in Bilawal Shah Noorani Goth. As a result, its owner, Ashiq Husain, 68, was killed.

The SSP said the victim was a retired sub-inspector of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh. The police were investigating the possible motive for the attack and identity of the killers.

The body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) to fulfil legal formalities.

Teenager shot dead by robbers

A teenager was shot dead by suspected robbers while his government official relative was wounded within the Sachal police limits late on Tuesday night, police said.

They added that FBR official Nisar Ahmed, 28, and his cousin Mukhtiar Ahmed Marri, 18, were travelling in a car when the vehicle developed some fault on the Superhighway. As they were trying to fix the vehicle, suspected robbers arrived there and tried to loot them. The suspects opened fire on them on resistance and fled.
