MUZAFFARGARH: The district police officer (DPO) took action against a station house officer (SHO), an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and a constable on Tuesday who implicated an 80-year-old man in a fake drug case.

DPO Syed Nadeem Abbas held a surprise visit to the Bet Mir Hazar police station on Monday where he foundoctogenarian Allah Bukhsh behind bars for possessing 150 gram charas.

When he dug the issue, the DPO found ASI Abdul Ghafoor registered the fake case against Allah Bukhsh.

The DPO ordered an inquiry into the incident which declared Allah Bukhsh innocent. On Tuesday morning, the DPO visited the police station again and got SHO Saleem Iqbal arrested and released Allah Bukhsh.

He also registered a case against the SHO, ASI Ghafoor with a constable under section rhe Control of Narcotics Substances Act of 1997 and 9C and 155C of the Pakistan Penal Code. The ASI and the constable fled.

According to the FIR, the fake case was registered against Allah Bukhsh as no drug was seized from him. The ASI arranged charas to make the case stronger while the SHO did not take any action against the ASI.

Sources saidthe police registered the drug case or the behest of an MPA who was also an adviser to the chief minister. When the DPO learnt about the case, he took the issue in his own hand and made an inquiry team under the DSP.

Jatoi DSP Mulazim Husain said that they would arrest the ASI and the constable soon.

CASE: The police had registered a case against culprits who kidnapped a teenage girl, raped her and later drank her black stone to kill her in Khangarh.

The Khangarh police said the accused called the family of the girl to take her back and when the family arrived at the spot, they found her unconscious.

She was sent to the Khangarh rural health centre and later to the Muzaffargarh District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. Station House Officer Chaudhry Javed Akhtar said the accused would be arrested soon.
