KARACHI: The police have chargesheeted five detained and one absconding suspects in the cases pertaining to kidnapping of two young girls in Defence Housing Authority last year.

The investigating officer have named the arrested suspects as Muzaffar, alias Moozi; Zohaib Qureshi; Tariq alias, Shakeel; Waseem Raja, alias Kamran and Fayyaz Solangi as accused in the charge sheets while absconder Agha Mansoor Hussain, former police officer dismissed from service due to his involvement in criminal activities, was also chargesheeted under Section 512 (record of evidence in the absence of accused) of the Criminal Procedure Code.

They have been accused of abducting Dua Mangi in November in DHA and shooting her friend Haris Soomro, when he put up resistance to the kidnapping attempt, and later on setting her free after receiving ransom from the captive’s family.

The police contended that the same set of suspects had also disclosed their involvement in the kidnapping of Bisma, who was also abducted in DHA in May last year, and also chargesheeted them in the second case. Both the captives were released against the payment of ransom.

The cases are fixed for hearing before the antiterrorism court-II on July 7.

The charge sheets said that both the captives were kept at a flat in Clifton. The police also added Section 201 and 202 of the Pakistan Penal Code in the charge sheets as the car used in the crime was recovered from Solangi and they used fake number plate.

The IO further said that the FSL report of the weapons recovered from Muzaffar and Zohaib had matched with a bullet casing found at the crime scene while other medical, ocular and documentary evidence had made out the cases against the suspects.

The charge sheets said that Solangi had been chargesheeted under Sections 201 and 202 of the PPC while the remaining suspects had been nominated as accused for the offences of kidnapping for ransom and attempted murder.
