ISLAMABAD, Sept 14: Chairman Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Munir Ahmad on Wednesday directed marketing companies to reduce the prices of liquefied petroleum gas and LPG cylinders to reasonable levels. He was speaking at a meeting with the representatives of 34 LPG marketing companies held to address the unwarranted increases in the prices of LPG and LGP cylinders.

The companies were also directed to ensure adequate supply of LPG during the coming months of winter, especially in the holy month of Ramazan.

The Ogra chairman also raised the issue of unauthorised decanting of LPG, which was hazardous to public safety and could cause damage to life and property.

Mr Ahmed said Ogra had time and again issued warnings to decanters and requested the public to be aware of illegal decanting of LPG and bring to the notice of the authority any such activity.

He asked the companies to play their role in eradicating the menace of decanting.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman LPG Association Iqbal Z. Ahmad said efforts would be made to devise a strategy and bring down the prices.
