Arshad claims gold in 73kg class

LAHORE, Sept 13: Arshad Hanif of Wapda secured a gold medal in the 73kg class of the national ranking judo championships being held on league basis at the National Sports Training and Coaching Centre on Tuesday.

In all, 28 fights were held in the weight class and Arshad remained winner in all seven in which he competed.

Arshad won against Muhammad Ramzan (Army), Muhammad Nadeem (Police), Afzal Shah (Wapda), Muhammad Shahbaz (Police), Abdul Hameed (Punjab), Abdul Qayyum (Army) and in the last against Farooq Ahmed (Wapda).

Farooq remained runner-up giving Wapda a silver medal.

Muhammad Ramzan of Army earned a bronze medal.

The competition in 81kg category will be held on Wednesday.
