LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has sought record of the appointment of the Lahore Electric Supply Company’s secretary from its chief executive officer in an inquiry in this regard.

The agency is probing the matter on a complaint that the secretary’s appointment has been made in violation of rules.

In a letter to the Lesco CEO, the FIA asked him to provide the record related to the criteria/rules/SOPs for appointment/extension/re-advertisement of the company’s secretary.

Earlier, a petition was also filed against the Lesco secretary terming his appointment against the rules. It said the Lesco board of directors had appointed him on a contract for one year with a probation period of three months and subsequently his contract was to be extended “as per rules on the basis of performance” as per the procedure in all contractual employments also followed by departments working under the provincial and the federal departments.
