One dies as vehicle hits landmine

SUKKUR, Jan 18: Two Dubai nationals, whose names could not be ascertained, were seriously injured and their driver was killed when the four-wheel drive vehicle exploded when it ran over a landmine in the desert area near the Daim Khan village, Ghotki district, 70 kms from here, on Friday.

The SHO of the Khanpur police station confirmed the incident. However, he said that no FIR had been registered.

The Dubai nationals who had come here for hunting were passing near the Daim Khan village in the desert in their four-wheel drive.

The vehicle exploded when it ran over the landmine as a result of which its driver, Abdul Quddus, was killed on the spot while the two Dubai nationals were injured seriously.

Both have been taken to the Cantonment Hospital, Pano Aqil. The Ghotki police when contacted, declined to comment.
