ISLAMABAD: The establishment division on Friday notified promotions and postings of top bureaucrats.
The promoted officers got top positions in ministries like commerce, cabinet division and communication.
The government upgraded the post of Azad Jammu and Kashmir chief secretary from BS-21 to BS-22. AJK chief secretary Mathar Niaz Rana, an officer of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), has been promoted to BS-22, but he will retain the same but upgraded post, the notification of the establishment division said.
PAS officer Dr Tanvir Ahmed Qureshi has been promoted to BS-22 and posted as special secretary of the commerce division. He was awaiting posting at the establishment division.
PAS officer Akhtar Nazir has been promoted but he will remain Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) secretary until further orders.
Additional secretary of the power division retired Captain Munir Azam has been posted as special secretary in the same division in BS-22.
Secretary of the Trade and Development Authority of Pakistan Mohammad Sualeh Ahmed Faruqui has been given the portfolio of special secretary of the communication division.
Retired Captain Sikandar Qayyum, who was working as chairman of the National Highway Authority in a makeshift arrangement under Section 10 of the Civil Service Act, 1973 will retain the same post even after his promotion to BS-22.
The post of director general of the National Institute of Management, Peshawar, has also been upgraded to BS-22, but Farah Hamid Khan will retain the same position.
Humera Ahmed, secretary of the Federal Public Service Commission, will also retain the same post.
PAS officer Shaukat Ali, who was at number 31 on the seniority list, has been promoted to BS-22. Mr Ali’s services are at the disposal of the Punjab government and he will remain in the same province. His promotion will actualise on July 27 when BS-22 officer Mohammad Ilyas will retire after superannuation.
Sources said Balochistan chief secretary Fazeel Asghar was considered for promotion to BS-22, but his name was dropped since he is facing multiple inquiries.
Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sanaullah Abbasi and Inspector General of Highways and Motorway Police Kaleem Imam have been promoted to BS-22, but they will retain the same posts.
Raza Bashir Tarrar, Moeen ul Haq, Najam us Saqib Butt and Nafees Zakria of the Foreign Service of Pakistan have also been promoted to BS-22.
Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service officers Abdul Ghufran Memon, Jamil Afaqi and Ghufran Memon have been promoted to BS-22. Fareena Azhar and Khawaja Adnan of the Inland Revenue Service, Zahir Khokhar of Pakistan Customs, Ejaz Minhas and Rana Ikhlaq of Postal Services have also been promoted to BS-22.
Additional secretary of the cabinet division Masood Chaudhry, who is the most senior officer of Military Land and Cantonment cadre, has been promoted to BS-22. Irfan Tarrar of the Commerce and Trade Group and Abdul Hameed Razi of the Pakistan Railways Commercial and Transportation Group have also been promoted to BS-22.
