Adviser to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Information Ajmal Wazir has said that the provincial government will no longer "tolerate violations of the standard operating procedures (SOPs)".

Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, he said: "We had said we would give relaxations if people followed SOPs but we had also said that those that will not follow them will be punished. Our district administrations are taking action against [those who violate SOPs]."

He urged people to "open their eyes", adding that the pandemic was a "reality and the situation is very bad".
