PARACHINAR: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl’s senior parliamentarian Haji Munir Khan Orakzai died of cardiac arrest at his native Kurram district here on Tuesday. He was 61.

Relatives said Munir Khan was found dead in his bed when the family members tried to wake him up for morning prayers. He was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in the Mandoori area later in the day.

The family members rushed him to civil hospital in Thall town where the doctors pronounced him dead. He has left behind a son, five daughters and a widow to mourn his death.

The relatives said that MNA Munir Khan Orakzai, who had tested positive for coronavirus, had recovered from the contagion after his test was declared negative on May 8.

JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed shock over the death of Munir Orakzai and said his death was an irreparable loss for the party and people of Kurram.

PPP MNA from Kurram Sajid Hussain Turi expressed shock over the demise of Munir Orakzai and termed it a great loss for the people of Kurram.

ANP president Asfandyar Wali Khan has expressed condolence over the demise of the senior parliamentarian.
