KARACHI: Noted educationist Prof Anwar Ahmed Zai, who died at a private hospital here after a brief illness early on Sunday, was laid to rest in the Yaseenabad graveyard after Asr prayers.

Prof Ahmed Zai had served as the chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK), the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) and the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Mirpurkhas. He also served as the EDO Karachi and additional secretary of the provincial education department. At the time of his death, he was serving as the chairman of the Ziauddin University Examination Board.

He leaves behind a son, who is a CSP officer, and a daughter, who is a doctor.

Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani and Vice Chancellor of the Ziauddin University Dr Asim Hussain are among the many who have extended their condolences to Prof Ahmed Zai’s bereaved family.
