KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal has expressed his concerns over an alarming rise in Covid-19 deaths and said quarantine centres might be needed at union committees level in a few days
In a statement issued on Sunday, he said that during the last 11 days the coronavirus pandemic had spread in the country at an alarming pace.
“The nation must stop pinning its hopes on the government. We have to save our people in our own areas,” he said, directing his workers to start making arrangements for setting up quarantine centres at UC level.
For this, he asked them to find schools and halls in their respective area. “Don’t expect anything from the government, as it is nowhere to be seen today. Makeshift hospitals may be set up at union council level,” he said.
He said most of the public issues could be solved by making changes in the 18th Amendment. “The fruits of the 18th Amendment can only be reaped by empowering the people at the lowest level through legal reforms. An incomplete amendment is harming the country instead of benefiting it.”
