ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday assured his party’s MNA Sadaqat Abbasi that the tourism industry of Murree-Galyat would be included in the relief package in the wake of the pandemic.

The PTI MNA from NA-57 and the party’s North Punjab president, Sadaqat Abbasi, called on the prime minister at his office and briefed him about the problems being faced by the tourism industry in the area due to the lockdown. Speaking to Dawn after the meeting, Mr Abbasi said Prime Minister had assured him that tourism industry of Murree-Galyat would be included in the relief package.

He said he also requested Prime Minister Imran Khan that the business community of Murree wanted an end to the lockdown, adding that the prime minister told him that after a meeting, which will be held on Saturday, the government will announce easing of the lockdown under standard operating procedures.

Murree is tourist resort and during summer a large numbers of people visit the area.

However this year due to coronavirus, a lockdown has been enforced in Murree, inflicting financial loss to the area’s business community, which depends on tourism.
