Hyderabad administration officials have imposed fines of hundreds of thousands of rupees on shops and businesses for violating the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the Sindh government to curb the spread of Covid-19 during Eid holidays.

Officials visited all four talukas in the district following reports that people were present at different restaurants and public spots in large numbers while throwing caution to the winds, according to a statement issued by the administration.

The officials made people leave a famous hotel in Qasimabad on Wadhu Wah Road while a fine of Rs100,000 was imposed on a shop owner by the Qasimabad assistant commissioner.

A similar fine was imposed on a franchise of a food chain on Thandi Sarak. The outlet was unsealed after the fine was paid.
