GUJRANWALA: A blaze at a plastic factory warehouse reduced to ashes a huge stock of products, raw material and damaged its structure near Pindi Bypass Road on Friday night.

Reports said the fire broke out in a section of the warehouse because of a short circuit at 10pm. Recue 1122 firefighters along with a team of Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco) reached the spot.

The Gepco team suspended the power supply to the warehouse and the adjoining buildings to contain the fire.

Factory owner Anwar Mughal said thousands of plastic chairs and washing machines that were ready for delivery turned into ashes while a large quantity of raw material also gutted.

Rescue 1122 official Syed Abid Kamal said the firefighters took two hours to control the blaze. There was no loss of human life.

This was the second time fire erupted in Sonica factory, in 2017 the entire factory was gutted by a massive fire.
