RAWALPINDI: The ill-fated aircraft of Pakistan International Airlines, which crashed in Karachi on Friday, was declared fit for flights till Nov 5, 2020 by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

According to sources, Airbus A320-200 with nationality and registration marks AP-BLD and aircraft serial number 2274 of categories — regular public transport, chartered operation and aerial work operation — was checked by the CAA’s airworthiness directorate on Nov 6, 2019 and declared fit for flying till Nov 5, 2020.

The sources said the first certificate of airworthiness was issued to Airbus A320-200 on Nov 6, 2014 to Nov 5, 2015. And after every year the airworthiness certificate was issued following a complete check of the plane.

The airworthiness certificate was issued to Airbus A320 AP-BLD by the director general air­worthiness.
