LAHORE: Seventeen more patients died of coronavirus across the province during the last 24 hours taking death toll to 290 in Punjab on Wednesday.

Of them six each died in Lahore and Rawalpindi while others were reported from Faisalabad, Multan and Sargodha.

Similarly, 709 more people tested positive for the virus in Punjab during the last 24 hours -- Lahore 368, Rawalpindi 79, Multan 61, Gujranwala 59 and Faisalabad 47.

The other districts, including Behawalpur, Bhakkar, Khoshab, Lodhran, Nankana Sahib, Dera Ghazi Khan and Narowal also reported new cases.

A spokesperson for the health department said the total number of confirmed cases of the virus in Punjab had reached to 16,685.He said that 688 confirmed patients of the Covid-19 recovered and discharged from various health facilities of the province during the last 24 hours.
