Army to continue helping institutions fighting Covid-19, says Bajwa

PESHAWAR: Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that the army will continue assisting other institutions fighting the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

During a visit to Kohat garrison on Thursday, Gen Bajwa was given a detailed briefing on operational preparedness, prevailing security situation, including border security measures along the Pak-Afghan border, update on the army’s assistance against Covid-19 in the area.

Gen Bajwa interacted with troops busy in relief efforts against Covid-19 and appreciated officers and soldiers for operational readiness, continued vigilance and high morale.

He said that troops would reach out to people, particularly those affected by Covid-19, for providing comfort in this hour of distress.

Later, the COAS also visited a Covid-19 facility at the Combined Military Hospital in Kohat.

Earlier, the COAS laid a floral wreath at Shuhada monument to pay homage to martyrs who laid their lives in the line of duty for defending the motherland.

The army chief was received by Lt-Gen Nauman Mahmood, the Commander of Peshawar Corps, on arrival in Kohat.
