KARACHI: Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Shibli Faraz on Monday evening said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was an independent institution functioning in a transparent manner and without any external influence.

Speaking to media in Islamabad, he said the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led government was committed to holding across-the-board accountability of all corrupt elements without any discrimination, and Prime Minister Imran Khan would make no compromise on accountability.

According to the Radio Pakistan’s website, the minister also said that previous governments had plundered the national exchequer and used NAB for political gains.

He said PM Khan brought national institutions under laws.

The minister urged the opposition to avoid political point-scoring on national issues and join hands with the government in its efforts to fight the global pandemic of new coronavirus.

He also urged Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif to face accountability instead of protecting personal interests.
