LAHORE: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Monday called for a uniform policy against coronavirus, saying the wavering stance of the government against the fatal virus was resulting in its spread.

In a telephonic conversation from Mansoora with JI leaders in Faisalabad, Haq questioned the government that if the lockdown was not beneficial, why flights, trains and public transport were closed. He said if the prime minister and his team were not in favour of a lockdown, they should take all the chief ministers into confidence and take a collective decision to deal with the challenge.

He said the federal and the provincial governments were only boosting their egos, adding that if they had been concerned for the millions of people facing hardships due to the lockdown, they would be taking practical measures to provide relief to them instead of hurling accusations at each other.
