SAHIWAL, Jan 17: Several people were injured in a clash among the members of two rival groups in the premises of local sessions court on Thursday. Police used batons to disperse them.

According to details, Bibi Rani of Chak No 82/5-L married Abid Hussain in a court of Depalpur (Okara). The girl’s parents, who were against the match, got registered a kidnap case against Abid, his father Manzoor, mother Sakeena and three other relatives.

The additional district and sessions judge accepted the pre-arrest bail plea of Abid and his relatives.

Around 60 supporters of both the parties were present in the court premises on Thursday when the hearing of the case was adjourned for Jan 22.

Imdad Ali, Jaffar Hussain and their 28 accomplices attacked Abid and his relatives when they came out of the court. The attackers reportedly wanted to take Bibi Rani to her parents’ house in Chak 82/5-L.

The relatives of Abid, who were armed with clubs and sticks, resisted the attempt. As a result, a number of people were injured. The police reached the spot and used batons to disperse them.

Imdad, Jaffar, Abid and Bibi Rani were arrested while raids were being conducted to arrest 36 others who were booked for disturbing law and order.
