CHITRAL, Sept 4: Federal lawmaker Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali announced on Sunday that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz had accepted his invitation to visit Chitral in the last week of September.

Maulana Chitrali told a press conference here that the people of Chitral would soon “hear some good news” about the launching of the Lowari Tunnel project and induction of new flights. New aircraft will replace the outdated Fokker planes currently used for flights.

Maulana Chitrali said that there was a conspiracy afoot to delay the inauguration of the Lowari tunnel project.

He accused Shahzada Mohyuddin of instigating two deference motions in the National Assembly secretariat against the award of the tunnel contract.

“Mr Mohyuddin has always opposed the Lowari tunnel project because of some personal reasons and for that reason he could not win a single union council seat in the recently held local government elections,” he said.

He called upon Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and the president of PML, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, and to expel Shahzada Mohyuddin from the party. Such a move will help the party garner wider support in Chitral and strengthen its position in the district.

In reply to a question, Maulana Chitrali said that the Jamaat-i-Islami would form an alliance with the JUI-F to and would contest elections for the district and tehsil nazims under the banner of the Muttahida Millat-i-Amal.

The tehsil ameer of JI, Ashrafuddin, and the district secretary, Qari Wazir Ahmed, were present on the occasion.
