Larkana police

APROPOS the letter ‘Larkana police’ (April 23). The inspector general of Sindh Police has ordered an inquiry into the incident and promised disciplinary action against officials found involved. The SSP of Larkana has been directed to visit the aggrieved family to collect details. The other incidents mentioned in the letter are also being investigated checked and action taken thereafter.

While such incidents are inexcusable, the police personnel, especially lower ranks are facing tremendous challenges owing to enhanced responsibilities because of the lockdown to contain the coronavirus pandemic.

All the same, the Sindh Police are not oblivious of their primary responsibility of holding misconduct and highhandedness in its ranks accountable.
