LONDON Sept 3: There is no war between the West and the Muslims hence the British multicultural society should stand up against the terrorists who wanted to kill innocent people without any discrimination, said British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Spokesman here on Friday.

The FCO spokesman was reacting to the latest video-tape message from one of the London bombers, Siddique Khan (SK), and Al Qaeda leader Ayaman-al-Zawahiri which was broadcast by the Arab TV channel Al-Jazeera on Thursday.

“There is neither a war between the West and Muslims nor a ‘clash of civilisations’. Terrorism does not equate to Islam or any other faith or human value. The United Kingdom is home to two million Muslims. How can SK suggest that he is defending and revenging Muslims when he himself was prepared to kill Muslims

in London,” said the spokesman.

The spokesman called upon the Britons to work together to “confront terrorists and undermine their destructive invective and propaganda. “We need to challenge their arrogance to claim representation of those who have not chosen them. 7 and 21 July attacks in London were an attack on all of us,” he said, adding that people belonging to 19 countries and many different faiths — Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs and Jews — were killed or injured during the London bombings on July 7.

The FCO spokesman stressed the needed to stand against the methods of the terrorists who had demonstrated that they had no regard either for the life of Muslims or non-Muslims.—APP
