KHAIRPUR, Sept 2: The dead body of a 60-year-old woman was found in a date palm orchard, near Wada Simang village, on late Friday evening. Panjal Khatoon was killed and her ears were cut by the killers apparently for the ear-rings she was wearing.

Relatives of the deceased and villagers staged a protest demonstration at the Luqman-Khairpur railway crossing road when they were going for her post-mortem. They pelted passing vehicles with stones.

The protestors dispersed on the assurance of city DSP Ali Mohammad Shahani to arrest the culprits.

PLEA: Sabir Hussain Dasti, an Awam Dost panel candidate for naib nazim from UC Mehar Veesar, Mirwah taluka, has demanded that Army, Rangers or any other independent agency be deployed during re-polling.
