LAKKI MARWAT, Jan 17: The Naib Nazimeen of district Lakki Marwat have demanded that they be given equal status as that of the members of the district council members so that they are able to serve the people better.

According to a press release issued by the newly-constituted action committee, information secretary Faizullah Khan, an emergency protest meeting was held at the residence of Naib Nazim Lakki 2, Malik Motabar Khan, in which the Naib Nazimeen of district Lakki Marwat union councils participated.

They said that since their election to the local bodies they have not been provided offices where they could listen to and solve the problems of their supporters.

They argued that under the circumstances the devolution of powers policy cannot be successful. They said they were elected representatives of the people, but without any power to serve their them.

The Nazimeen have formed an action committee. The office- holders are, Haji Hayatulah Khan, president, Nawab Bashir Aslam Khan, vice-president, Khan Badshah Khan, general secretary, Mohammad Ismail Khan, joint secretary, Malik Motabar Khan, finance secretary, and Faizullah Khan as information secretary.

They have demanded that two town councils should be set up in Lakki Marwat district.
