Though major mosques in Peshawar saw fewer worshippers than usual, the number was still higher than last week.
About 400 people attended Friday prayers congregation in Darwesh Mosque, which usually houses 1,000 worshippers. However, as opposed to government instructions, the floor of the mosque remains carpeted and social distancing was not strictly observed.
Other mosques reportedly followed precautionary measures. According to a resident, who lives near Peshawar's Circular Road, prayer leader of the mosque in his area had urged old people and children to pray at home and worshippers were told to observe social distancing and avoid shaking hands.
