It is always good to reuse the stuff laying around our house, and before your mum throws away empty bottles, grab one (preferably of a cold drink) and buckle up to make a naughty chicken out of it.

I am sure you will already have some pieces of colourful thread or yarn strings, if not, request your mum to lend you some for a wonderful craft that you will create today. I am sure she will agree once she gets to know that you would be indulging in a creative activity.

So let’s start it.

Things you need:

  1. Empty cold drink bottle (better use a plastic one, rather than glass)

  2. Pieces of orange, white and black paper (to make wings, feet and eyes)

  3. Pieces of colourful thread or yarn strings (you can use as much as you like)

  4. Glue tube

  5. Colourful beads (four or five)

  6. Scissors

  7. Pencil

Directions:

  1. Draw the chicken’s feet and wings on the orange paper, and a little triangle for the beak and cut them out. Then put them aside, picture 2.

  2. Cut out circles in size of the bottle cap from the white paper, picture 3.

  3. To make the crown, cut fringes either from the orange or red paper, (use five-inches long and three-inch wide paper) and fold it, picture 4.

  4. The crown, eyes, beak, wings and feet are ready, leave them for a while until we need to paste them, picture 5.

  5. Take a six inches long string of any colour, insert four or five beads, tie a knot and put it aside as well, picture 6.

  6. Use the wide part of the bottle that is the middle, apply glue and start tying colourful threads or yarn strings, see pictures 7 and 8.

  7. Then tie the beaded string around the top thread, picture 9. (the bow is optional).

  8. Insert the crown into the mouth of the bottle (secure it by applying glue), picture 10.

  9. Paste wings on both sides of the chicken, picture 11.

  10. Paste the feet at the bottom of the bottle, picture 12.

Isn’t it a cute little chicken made from an empty bottle? You can place it in your room to add a little cheer to the atmosphere.

Have a good time making this craft and keep yourself busy in fruitful things that will add to your skill and knowledge. Let these holidays be a time for some self-improvement.
