Zone-II Whites lift U-17 crown

KARACHI, Sept 1: Zone-II Whites emerged as champions of the KCCA Under-17 Inter-zonal cricket tournament after defeating Zone-I Whites by 28 runs in the final played at the KCCA Stadium the other day.

Batting first, Zone-II Whites closed their 50-over innings at 222 for eight. Nazish Ghous led the way with 55.

Tabish Nawab, who was adjudged best bowler of the tournament with 27 scalps, picked up four wickets but gave away 107 runs in 20 overs.

Zone-I Whites were restricted to 194 for nine despite good knocks by Anan Arif (64) and Hamzaul Hasan (46).

Man-of-the-Match Athar Hussain followed his knock of 21 with three for 60.

Farhan Rafiq earned the best batsman’s award for making 304 runs.
