ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has extended assignment submission date to April 27 due to the lockdown against coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

According to a press release issued by the university on Tuesday: “AIOU has allowed its students of Bachelors (BA), B.Ed, Masters (MA) and other postgraduate programmes to submit their academic assignments till April 27.”

Students have been given extended time for accomplishing academic work to facilitate them, it added.

The statement also said that the last date for submission of assignment results by tutors has also been extended till May 4.

AIOU Vice Chancellor Prof Ziaul Qayyum has advised students to send their assignments to their assigned tutors by the stipulated date, since this is an essential requirement on their part for scoring marks in their respective academic programme.

Students from 15 cities of the country can submit their assignments online to their designated tutors. The cities include Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Rahimyar Khan, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Quetta, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan and Abbotabad.

The press release further said as per the directives of Mr Qayyum, the university was trying its best to compensate its 1.4 million students across the country in their academic pursuits during the lockdown.
