GILGIT: Twenty-eight patients of Covid-19 recovered in Gilgit-Baltistan in a single day as a fresh case was detected on Tuesday, taking the infected people’s tally to 212.

So far, three patients have died and 43 recovered.

According to a press release issued by the GB information minister Shams Mir, currently 166 coronavirus patients were under treatment in the region.

He said recovery rate was speedy, which was a good omen.

He said the government was coordinating with the relevant organisations round the clock to effectively deal with the situation.

It is expected such good news will also be received in future, Mr Mir said.

The information minister said the region’s coronavirus testing capacity had been increased to 100 daily.

He announced that a coronavirus testing laboratory would soon be operational in the region.

He said Nagar was the most affected district, adding distribution of relief among the needy people continued.

Shams Mir said a large number of students stranded in other parts of the country had been brought back to GB.
