TAXILA: Al-Khidmat Foundation on Sunday sanitised worship places of minorities and distributed food items among the poor.

Workers of the foundation initiated spraying anti-coronavirus pesticides in mosques, churches, gurdwaras and imambargahs across the city.

Its workers also visited post offices, markets, bazaars and sprayed them with disinfectants. The group also distributed rations among poor families belonging to minority communities.

Christian community leader Pastor Nasir Haroon said the foundation had set a good example. He said disinfecting temples and churches in the wake of the coronavirus epidemic was a positive example of religious tolerance.

Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Punjab secretary general Iqbal Khan supervised the welfare activities in the city and lauded efforts of the volunteers. JI leader Attiqur Rehman said the foundation had started distributing food among the poor and disinfecting worship places and also delivered vegetables to 500 households in Taxila and Wah.
